Coral occupies the narrow gap between pink and orange, and that in-between position is its whole character: warmer and friendlier than pink, softer and less alarming than red-orange. Because the band is only a few hue degrees wide, small shifts change the read dramatically — five degrees toward red turns it salmon-romantic, five toward orange turns it sporty — so pin the exact value early and check it across devices, since coral is notorious for rendering differently between screens. Beauty, social apps, and summer fashion lean on it, and it performs strongly as a call-to-action color against cool or neutral interfaces. The trap is button text: white type on coral fails WCAG AA at typical lightness, which surprises teams because it looks fine — use a deep burgundy-brown text or darken the coral itself.
